Chemical sterilization technique (CST) for oyster mushroom cultivation
CST developed by the DMR  for the cultivation of oyster mushroom has almost completely replaced costly and cumbersome steam pasteurization technique.  It involves steeping of straw in chemical solution of Formalin+Bavistin (500ppm+ 37.5ppm) followed by spawning.  Fruit bodies raised by such techniques are safe for human consumption as the translocation of the chemical in them are below tolerance limit.
